Minna Alén, Violin

Minna Alén was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1979 and has been playing the violin since she was seven years old. She studied classical music in Sweden and Norway, has been working professionally in many great orchestras, and since 2008 holds a position in the first violin section of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.  Parallel with her classical studies, Minna’s interest in Swedish and Norwegian folk music has always been very important to her and she even traveled to Budapest to study Transylvanian and classical gypsy music. Upon her first experience with the Rumi Ensemble, she felt a great connection with the music, as well as the musicians.  She regards this influence of Persian music as a fantastic complement to her daily work and feels that the Rumi Ensemble has further developed her, both as a musician and a person.
